The Bachelor’s Programme in Industrial Engineering and Management (LEGI) marked the end of the academic year with the 1st edition of the PIC Challenge Day, an event designed to showcase the best projects developed in the course Projecto Integrador de 1.º Ciclo (PIC).

The initiative brought together the top finalist groups, who had the opportunity to present and discuss their work before peers, faculty members, and representatives from partner companies. The event strengthened the role of PIC as an applied learning environment, where students address real engineering and management challenges in close collaboration with organisations from the industrial sector.

The winning project was developed in partnership with MCG - Manuel da Conceição Graça and focused on the ergonomic optimisation of industrial workstations, using the REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) method. The team proposed improvements aimed at enhancing safety, comfort and productivity, demonstrating their ability to combine technical methodologies, critical analysis and practical solutions with industrial impact.

The jury included the course lecturers Tânia Pinto Varela and António Sérgio Ribeiro, as well as representatives from Kearney (Gustavo Oliveira) and Kaizen Institute Global (Pedro Pereira), ensuring a multidisciplinary assessment aligned with current industry challenges.

This first edition of the PIC Challenge Day reinforces the connection between Academia and Industry and highlights the importance of collaborative work in preparing future engineers, professionals capable of transforming technical knowledge into relevant, real-world solutions.
