António Sérgio Ribeiro is one of the newest members of the Department of Engineering and Management (DEG), joining the department after serving as Director of the Labour Market Statistics Unit in the Department of Demographic and Social Statistics at Statistics Portugal (INE). He also maintains his connection to CEGIST through his involvement in the research project The Role of Human Capital in Entrepreneurial Success – A Reconceptualization.

His research interests lie primarily in labour market studies and entrepreneurship, particularly in understanding how different factors influence the performance of workers and firms. His work applies econometric models to administrative data from multiple sources. He is currently part of a research project that examines the role of entrepreneurs’ human capital — and that of entrepreneurial teams — in the survival and growth of new ventures. He will be teaching in the area of Organisations Management, namely in courses related to Entrepreneurship, Economics, and Applied Econometrics.

This exciting challenge enables me to contribute to the education of our students, who enrich the country with their knowledge and talent, and to pursue research in the field of organisations that strengthens the international recognition of our institution,” said António Sérgio Ribeiro when signing his contract with Instituto Superior Técnico.
