DEG alumna honoured with award for best Master’s thesis in Belgium

Natacha da Silva, a student in the Master’s Program in Industrial Engineering and Management (MEGI) at Técnico, received the award for best master’s thesis of 2025 from the Louvain School of Management in Belgium. The research, which aims to improve the planning of supply chains for personalized cancer therapies, was conducted as part of the dual-degree program between Técnico and the Belgian university UC Louvain, under the guidance of Bruna Mota, a professor in the Department of Engineering and Management.
As these therapies are developed in accordance with each patient’s individual characteristics, they present particularly complex and costly logistical challenges. The research analysed, amongst other aspects, the location of specialist hospitals and the distribution of patients, seeking to balance cost reductions for the National Health Service (SNS) and for patients with improved access to treatment.
This award included a cash prize of 500 euros.
