The Department of Engineering and Management congratulates Margarida Catalão Lopes on her promotion to Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico.

A lecturer at the DEG and a researcher at CEGIST – the Centre for Management Studies at the Instituto Superior Técnico, Margarida Catalão has been working in the fields of industrial organisation, economics and strategy, game theory, mergers and acquisitions, and energy economics and sustainability – areas in which she carries out scientific research. She teaches, amongst others, the modules Industrial Organisation and Economics and Strategy: Theory and Applications.

With a PhD in Economics from NOVA SBE and a postgraduate qualification in Economics from ISEG, at DEG she has been conducting research on the role of Industrial Organisation in analysing strategic interaction between firms and in understanding the social impact of business decisions in imperfectly competitive markets. Throughout her career, she has published in international scientific journals such as Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, International Journal of Game Theory and Energy Policy.

In addition to her prolific work in teaching and research, she is a member of the Executive Committee of the Department of Engineering and Management, where she serves as Vice-President for the Alameda Campus and Academic Affairs.
