Log.lab| A new space for learning and for research
A week after the inauguration of Log.Lab we spoke with Susana Relvas and Tânia Ramos, both DEG professors who were involved in this project from the beginning.
Log.lab - Operations and Logistics Laboratory was inaugurated on May 14, 2024, realizing an idea that dates back to 2016. A week after its inauguration, we spoke with Susana Relvas and Tânia Ramos, both DEG teachers who were involved in this project from the beginning.
The idea of creating a laboratory associated with the theme of logistics dates back to 2016. " From the idea of the laboratory to its implementation a long way was made, but it allowed us to leverage our idea with the Worten team, who quickly joined the project", says Susana Relvas.
The areas that can be enhanced by the laboratory are of high practical content - Logistics, Operations Management or up to Supply Chain Management, where the potential for applying knowledge from other areas is very high. Students, teachers or researchers from areas other than Industrial Engineering and Management are easily involved, for example through the development of tools and solutions in the field of computer engineering, robotics, automation or others.
After the inauguration of the Log.lab , "we intend to plan and develop Log.lab initiatives aligned with three dimensions: teaching, research & innovation, while establishing a connection to society" tell us Professor Susana Relvas.
This is possible through the joint construction of different initiatives that involve students and teachers and which put them in contact with the professional world actively and that can contribute to the approach of real problems or advance scientific knowledge.
Log.lab is, thus, an example of how business partnerships can bring mutual benefits to Técnico School and its partner companies, such as Worten.
