Brief description of the research work: Health care is increasingly becoming a pivotal sector, not only for enhancing life expectancy and quality of life but also for driving scientific, technological, and managerial advancements toward sustainability and innovation. The Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) approach shifted the focus from volume-driven models to maximizing value by improving health outcomes relative to costs (Porter, 2006). This paradigm shift requires advancements in Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) to operationalize VBHC across health contracts and broader health care frameworks. Although multiple criteria evaluation of health contracts is beginning to be studied (Tavares and Arruda, 2022), the current VBHC literature on the role and practical application of MCDA tools, and their potential to drive sustainability and innovation within this new paradigm is still scarce (Landers et al., 2016). This is particularly evident in contracting models aimed at rewarding multidimensional health benefits. Hence, the research being carried out has a two-fold purpose: the development of new instruments of MCDA, and the full use of their potential to achieve sustainable and innovative VBHC.
