My teaching approach values the articulation between theory and practice, students’ autonomous thinking, and learning oriented towards real-world problems.

Holding a PhD in Management, specialising in Finance, from ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics & Management, João Estevão is the newest Professor to join the Department of Engineering and Management (DEG) at Instituto Superior Técnico. He developed his academic career at ISEG, where he taught several finance-related courses, including Financial Calculus and Instruments, Financial Management and Investment Analysis.
At Técnico, he will teach the courses Financial and Management Accounting and Economics. His teaching approach is grounded in an applied and interdisciplinary perspective:

His main research interests focus on finance, particularly within renewable energy markets, with a special emphasis on the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He is also interested in entrepreneurship, public finance, green bonds and tourism.
Outside academia, he has a strong interest in futsal and running, activities he considers essential to maintaining balance between professional and personal life.
